This series of photographs acknowledge my interest for abstract expressionism and especially this kind of simple design that Mark Rothko explored all his life: Both simple and complex just like emotions. I admire him for all the energy it gives in the exploration of a simple expression. Most of the time huge paintings of the size of a wall, something 10 different variations of a similar idea and spending the day just watching a single painting to get various perception of it according to the sun light. That’s being dedicated.
My visit of the London Modern Tate exhibition of Mark Rothkos leaves its mark on me. His works has become a strong influence on this experiment but actually on most of my photographs. When I leave this exhibition, I had this weird thing in me; I couldn't put a word on it. It wasn't from my mind but from my stomach, an emotion, just a real emotion pure of any rational justification.
From my point of view, most abstract paintings are so intellectual. I find it’s really interesting that cute down to the most simple square in a square there is nothing to understand any more except your own feeling on from of such creation.
These photographs are made to bring back this simple expression and are supposed to be enjoying wide in an empty environment.
